nyc day 5: friends
I screwed myself over.
I was supposed to wake up at 9:15, but I decided I was too tired and eventually woke up at 9:45. Why is this important? Well, I booked an apartment tour in Hell's Kitchen, which is 4 miles away. I also have a lack of close metros stops in this neighborhood, so by the time I was ready to go; the only option was to bike.
I left around 10:10 and the only way I was going to get there by 10:45 was to take a Citi bike. I was hot, sweaty, annoyed with how many stops there were on the way to Hell's Kitchen, but I eventually made it on time! (2 minutes late but who's asking)
Robert and I checked out the place and it was pretty good! It was a 3 bed 2 bath that was pretty spacious and only $4560. I was kind of set on applying, but after my trip back to Lower Manhattan, I had my second thoughts. The price was good and it was decently spacious, but that was the only allure.
Here are the cons:
- The apartment is a 1st floor & basement unit with little natural light
- It's close to Time Square, basically on the edge of it
- Unideal for commutes to work for 2/3 of us
The big factor for me is the neighborhood. I would rather live in Lower Manhattan by the 4/5/6 train and this was not it at all. So I think it was a pass.
I took the subway back home, worked, grabbed pizza for lunch, and worked some more until 9:00. Jeremy flew in yesterday to visit his college friends and I joined them for dinner. We had delicious Korean food, walked around, went to a local bar, and a chill rooftop bar next to the Empire State Building.
It was my first time going out in NYC and it was chill. Kiana and Sriven were super sweet and genuine. It was cool meeting Jeremy's friends. I got home around 2:30 and went right to bed.
