51: first day

today is my first day of work!

i'm starting a position as an audit associate at FORVIS, a large public accounting firm. for those reading, companies hire accountants to do their accounting work and make their financial statements. Auditors (me) review those financial statements to make sure their accountants are doing the work right.

I woke up this morning at 8:00 and made some breakfast and found myself bored since I start at 10:30. I went to Whole Foods to return some packages but it was only 8:39 and they opened the Amazon returns at 9:00. no!!!

i went back to the apartment, changed, chilled, and finally went on my merry way to work. pulled up to the office at 10:15 and met my recruiter Rebecca, and my other coworkers: Evan, Hussain, Justin, Phillip, Warren, Julien, Katia, and Ramsey. I may be missing one but not too sure.

We started chatting it up, had ice breakers, went through typical corporate things, then went to lunch at a fancy restaurant for free! I had the lobster bisque, steak frites, and a solid 4 pieces of bread. I was still hungry. We then headed back to the office where we listened to more corporate talk and I was falling asleep due to my food coma.

We got our laptops all set up, learned to track our time, set up direct deposits, and filled out our W-4s which capped off the day. I also forgot to say, the office is actually kinda fancy. There are snacks and drinks in the break room and there are decent views of Manhattan since we are on the 12th floor.

I went home and my couch was delivered! I waited for Anderson to get home and we lugged it up the stairs and it was super easy to put together. Now I have a couch! the couch looks better than this photo, i would take a better picture in the daylight but it's 11:00pm rn and i have no daylight. I'll update a better picture later.

I baked some cookies and we went to go meet some of our neighbors. The first two didn't answer the door and the second lady just said "no" to us saying hi and offering to give her cookies we baked her 😭

awful start but we met two different neighbors which were chill and they accepted our cookies! then Anderson and I just chilled the rest of the night. the end.
