26: a successful night out
the day started like any other
my typical morning routine. wake up, go on my phone, feel unproductive, then finally get up and be a real human. i would say i want to fix that, but when thinking about plans on changing my routine, i feel no desire to.
today i decided to get out of the apartment again and go study, but this time at the library. i didn't feel like paying for a spot to study. i thought i was going to take the metro uptown to the library in Midtown, but it turns out there is a library 2 blocks away from me. I didn't have to spend $2.75 both ways!
during my library, i studied one module for audit while being distracted on finding places to go out with my roommate tonight. during this important multitask, i realized that my attention span is crazy short.
the multiple choice questions have a timer per question and i was flipping between questions and bars whenever i got bored. i would research places to go and it felt like i had been off task for 15 minutes. I flip back to the multiple choice question and it's only been 4 minutes??? maybe i do need to go on my phone less
after studying like one module that was only 20 minutes long and doing the multiple choice section, i left the library and did some more nothing. up until it was time to head over to anderson's place.
during my research session, i found an event with a free rsvp in chelsea, near his place where a highly rated dj was playing. i pull up to anderson's around 9:30 and we start chatting it up and having a drink. he started his first week of work, so he was telling me all about it and we get on the topic of the rsvp. turns out he didn't rsvp since he was at work and it's now full ☠️
but it's all good bc ya boy did his research. we planned to go to bars in brooklyn since nightlife in manhattan seems so packed and exclusive. i brought a hoodie, headphones, and other things to anderson's since i thought we were going to chelsea but since we were going to brooklyn, we made a quick pit stop at my apartment to drop it all off.
at this point it's already 11:00 and we both thought these places were going to be packed. but we still went and as we pull up to the metro, the line took off right as we got there and we had to wait another 15 minutes 😹
it's all good though, we got on the train, got to bushwick (neighborhood in brooklyn), and went to bossa nova. walked in and there was essentially no line! we had to pay a $10 cover charge but we got in right away. so nice compared to last weekend 😭
the bar had a hazy, pink and purple, and chill but energetic vibe going on. we ordered drinks and everyone was nice. plus the drinks were $11, which is not value but cheaper than most bars i've been to. we hit the dance floor where they played house music and started vibing the night away.
as we were dancing, i noticed a guy in the back just chilling alone and included him in our dancing session. his name was ziggy (i think) and we was a chill dude who danced with us the rest of the night. bossa nova started getting packed around 12:30 and anderson wasn't feeling house music anymore so we dipped out to try another bar.
the second bar was called mood ring and was across the street, but the cover charge was $25. not value for a place we just wanted to check out so we called it a night. we took the metro back to manhattan and parted ways.
overall fun night, i def want to check out other places in brooklyn. seems more of a vibe
